Volumetric dosing - a safer way to measure psychoactive substances

Are you looking for a more accurate and safer way to measure compounds that require minuscule amounts? Enter volumetric dosing! This technique involves dissolving a compound in a liquid, making it easier to measure even the tiniest doses. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you master this valuable harm reduction practice:

  • Step 1: Prepare the Solution

Weigh out the desired amount of compound, considering a minimum of 20 times the precision of your balance. For instance, if you have a 0.001g balance, you'll need at least 20mg of the compound.

  • Step 2: Determine the Concentration

Decide on the concentration you want for your solution. A less concentrated solution is easier to handle, but if you plan on nasal dosing, keep in mind the volume limitations. We'll use 2mg/ml as an example.

  • Step 3: Measure the Water

Using an easily available syringe, accurately measure the quantity of water needed. To achieve a concentration of 2mg/ml, divide the mass of the compound by the concentration to determine the amount of water required. For example, 20mg divided by 2mg/ml equals 10ml. Place the water into a sealable glass bottle.

  • Step 4:Dissolve the Compound

Add the measured compound to the water in the bottle and securely seal it. Gently swirl the liquid, avoiding vigorous shaking as it may coat the bottle's walls.

  • Step 5: Apply Gentle Heat

Using a flame or a hotplate set to the lowest temperature, gently heat the bottle. It's crucial to maintain a temperature of approximately 60°C for 10 minutes or until the compound is completely dissolved. Be cautious not to heat too rapidly or excessively, as it could damage the glass or cause the lid to open forcefully.

Congratulations! You've created a precisely measured solution using volumetric dosing. Remember, you can always add more water later if needed. It's also worth noting that alternative solvents like everclear can be used.

What if My Powder Doesn't Dissolve?
If your powder doesn't dissolve, you may not have heated and swirled it long enough. In such cases, try adding a few drops of lemon juice or another acid to the solution and restir. Be mindful not to add too much, as it may affect the concentration. Please note that this trick won't work for benzodiazepines, but you can try heating for longer and stirring more. Additionally, if your compound is insoluble in the chosen solvent, you'll need to select a different solvent.

Remember, volumetric dosing enhances accuracy and promotes harm reduction. Prioritize safety, conduct thorough research, and seek guidance from reliable sources to ensure responsible practices.
