We are pleased to announce the successful event "Safer nightlife" which we organized in collaboration with the PARKAS bar.
Held on July 19th, the event aimed to encourage a discussion on harm reduction in drug use, prevention of sexual violence, and emphasize the importance of collaboration among stakeholders and organizations involved in nightlife.
The event was hosted by comedian Antanas Sadauskas. Participants in the discussion included representatives from various organizations and sectors: Aušra Želvienė, Head of the Prevention Coordination Department of the Drug, Alcohol, and Tobacco Control Department; Reda Jureliavičiūtė, co-founder of the non-governmental organization "Ribologija," combating sexual violence; Dr. Linas Tamošaitis, leader of the non-governmental organization "Jauna Banga," focused on harm reduction in drug use; Dominykas, representative of the "Elastica" club; Raimondas Pranka, President of the Night Economy Association (NaktA); and Mark Adam Harold, nightlife economic expert.
"Safer nightlife" aimed to educate and empower professionals in this field as well as partygoers to contribute to enhancing safety in the nightlife scene. The event brought together various perspectives and knowledge to explore innovative strategies for increasing safety, reducing the risks associated with drug use, and preventing sexual violence in local clubs and bars.
Key discussion topics included harm reduction in the context of nightlife, with a focus on drug testing and promoting more responsible choices. Additionally, the prevention of sexual violence was highlighted, emphasizing the importance of consent and addressing the issue of drug-facilitated assault. The event also encouraged collaboration and cooperation among discussion participants, organizations, and club/bar owners to find effective solutions to these challenges.
In addition to the discussion, the event featured an interactive segment where participants could engage in surveys and express their views on the discussed topics. A question and answer session provided the audience with an opportunity to interact with the discussion participants and gain additional insights, sharing new ideas.
"We believe that by bringing together experts, organizations, and the community in this field, we can create a safer and more responsible nightlife environment," said Retas R., director of plur.lt. "With the event 'Nightlife Safer,' we aim to develop a dialogue, share knowledge, and inspire action to promote harm reduction in drug use and prevent sexual violence in our local nightlife culture."
